West London, 1952. Hester Collier makes a failed suicide attempt in her apartment. The reasons that pushed the woman to such a desperate act are a complicated relationship with a former pilot of the Royal Air Force and an unsuccessful marriage with a successful judge. Behind the facade of the emphasized upbringing of post-war British society hides loneliness, repressed passion and the desire to live life to the fullest.
